The science
Three levers. One pouch.
Lively works because it stacks three compounding advantages — timing, solubility, and delivery — in a way no capsule or drink can replicate.*
The framework
Why these three things together matter
Timing — take it while you drink
Alcohol metabolism is an active, ongoing process. Supporting it during consumption — not the morning after — is when intervention has the most leverage. Lively is taken while alcohol is in your system, working alongside the metabolic process as it unfolds.
Solubility — 675× more than standard DHM
Free DHM dissolves at roughly 0.2 mg/mL in water. Our proprietary co-solubilizing blend achieves approximately 135 mg/mL — a 675-fold improvement. Solubility is the rate-limiting step for absorption: if a molecule can't dissolve, it can't reach your bloodstream. Most DHM products skip this entirely.*
Buccal delivery — bypasses the GI tract
The oral mucosa is a direct route into systemic circulation. Unlike swallowed supplements that must survive the stomach, intestine, and first-pass liver metabolism, buccal absorption deposits active ingredients into the bloodstream faster and more completely.*
Mechanism
How alcohol metabolism works — and where DHM fits
Step 1
Alcohol enters your system
Ethanol is metabolized by alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) into acetaldehyde — a reactive compound responsible for much of how you feel the morning after drinking.
Step 2
Acetaldehyde is the bottleneck
Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) converts acetaldehyde into harmless acetate. When ALDH can't keep pace with intake, acetaldehyde accumulates — and you feel it.
Step 3
DHM supports the clearance pathway
Dihydromyricetin (DHM) has been shown in preclinical research to support ALDH activity and modulate alcohol's interaction with GABA receptors, helping your body process alcohol's byproducts more efficiently.*
Step 4
The solubility bottleneck
Raw DHM has extremely low aqueous solubility (~0.2 mg/mL). The vast majority of what's in a competitor's capsule never reaches your bloodstream — it passes through undissolved.
Step 5
The Lively solution: proprietary co-solubilizing blend
By formulating DHM in a proprietary co-solubilizing system at a specified ratio, Lively achieves approximately 135 mg/mL aqueous solubility — 675× greater than free DHM. More dissolved means more absorbed.*
Solubility
675× more soluble.
Free DHM dissolves at approximately 0.2 mg/mL in water. Lively's proprietary co-solubilizing blend achieves approximately 135 mg/mL — a 675-fold improvement.
Solubility is the rate-limiting step in oral absorption. A molecule that won't dissolve can't permeate tissue and can't reach systemic circulation — regardless of dose.
Combined with buccal delivery, Lively removes two of the biggest barriers between an active ingredient and your bloodstream at once.*

Featured ingredient
Clovinol® by Akay Bioactives
Clovinol® is a patented, standardized clove (Eugenia caryophyllata) polyphenol extract developed by Akay Bioactives. It is standardized for total polyphenol content and has been the subject of published research examining its antioxidant capacity and ALDH-supporting activity.
In Lively's formulation, Clovinol® is included alongside DHM to provide complementary pathway support — targeting both the antioxidant and enzymatic dimensions of alcohol metabolism.*
Clovinol® is a registered trademark of Akay Bioactives, Kerala, India.
Why Clovinol®
- —Standardized clove polyphenol extract — consistent, documented potency
